Global Effective Teaching (GET) will consist of two themes:
- Observed teaching behavior (ICALT)
- Perceived teaching behavior (MTQ)
For each theme, it will consist of seven domains:
- Learning Climate
- Classroom Management
- Clarity of Instruction
- Activating Teaching
- Differentiation
- Learning Strategies
- Student Engagement
Based on reviews of evidence-based effective teachers’ behaviour research, Van de Grift (2007, 2013) identified six observable domains of teaching quality. These domains include safe and stimulating learning climate, efficient classroom management, clarity of instruction, activating teaching, adaptation to students’ learning needs (differentiation), and teaching learning strategies.
The six domains of teaching behaviour mentioned above are also in accordance with other models and empirical findings (Danielson, 2013; Pianta & Hamre, 2009; Ko & Sammons, 2013). Five of the ten effective behavior domains found by Ko et al. (2013) coincide with the six above mentioned domains.
